Looking at Van Gogh's self-portraits, we might not think too much of them. However, there is massive importance to be found in his self-portraits. Of the 36 self-portraits he painted, we can see them as representations of his artistic development and his own personal well-being as it fluctuated during his career.

However, one must never forget that through his struggling times, Van Gogh created some of the most stunning paintings the world has ever seen, and his works will forever bring joy to those getting the pleasure to explore them.
