Fukuoka was where Yoshida Hiroshi was born. Yoshida Hiroshi was born in Fukuoka. He studied first under Tamura Soritsu, Kyoto. Later, he went to Tokyo to join Fudo-sha of Koyama Shotaro. He was later a member the Meiji Art Society. He founded the Taihei Yoga Kai in 1902. The first prize in the inaugural Bun-ten was awarded to him. This work was then purchased by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture. He continued to submit to public exhibitions and was eventually able to judge them. His first woodblock print was published in 1920. Many of his sketches were taken on trips to Japan, Europe, and Asia. He founded the Japan Mountain Painting Association in his later years. He often painted mountainous landscapes both inside and outside Japan.
