About The Artwork
光る海 ("Hikaru umi", "the sparkling sea") Hiroshi Yoshida has created a full-color woodblock print showing two sailboats in full sail. It is part of the series Setonaikai Shu (瀬戸内海集) - An assortment of ocean views at Seto. 1926

Hiroshi Yoshida
A 20th-century Japanese painter and woodblock printer. His unique landscape prints are a highlight of his shin-hanga art. He is widely regarded as one of the most essential artists in the style. Yoshida traveled extensively and was well-known for his photographs of non-Japanese subjects in traditional Japanese woodblock design, such as the Taj Mahal and the Swiss Alps.
